Headstone Manor - Girls

Headstone Manor Ladies Cricket Club was formed in 1999 for girls to have the opportunity to receive coaching and play real cricket matches after the age of 15.

We run squads at U/11’s, U13’and U15’s and we enter all known festivals and competitions especially the MCCC and ECB cups, and recently the Lady Taverners events. This year we may run a U/17’s squad as well.

Training takes place both summer and winter, some 45 weeks of the year where everyone receives some coaching and playing real games. No training normally at ½ term dates.

This year our winter programme is listed below:

U/12’s : Tuesday: 17-30 - 19.30 – The Teachers Gym, Cecil Road, Wealdstone

Over 13’s: Wednesday: 16.30 -18.00 – The Sports Hall Harrow High School, Gayton Road, Harrow.

Ladies: Wednesday:18.30 -20.00 – Nower Hill High School, Geoge V Ave, Pinner, Middx

We do have an open policy, both girls and boys can attend all or any of our coaching sessions. Our club motto is “Cricket is fun” and that winning is not paramount, but winning makes smiling easy!

We also arrange 2/3 area pop in’s, normally on a Saturday from 10.00 -14.00 utilising one of the 3 sports hall in the Borough of Harrow (Coaches are supplied by us).

Some of our 35 girls of varying ages have represented the county of Middlesex. Girls from u/11’s to u/17’s. A number of girls have also played for Middlesex Ladies.

Our policy of encouraging girls and ladies to become coaches has paid big dividends. We currently have some 6 level 1 coaches. We hope that 2 or 3 ladies will go onto take their level 2 and we actively support 16 year old girls to go on the introductory coaching course, they too can assist with coaching under the guidance of a mentor.

During the summer season we are Associate Members of Bessborough Cricket Club, utilising their nets, Astro pitches and Pavilion, playing matches and festivals.

Our Association to the local junior senior school helps with us with a steady flow of players, from all walks of life and denominations.

Our Policy of allowing poor and or disadvantaged children is fully implemented and no-one is declined due to not being able to pay our £3 session.

We have won a number of honours in our short career:

  • U/15’s - ECB indoor winners
  • U/15’s - ECB Indoor runners up
  • U/15’s - MCB winner 4 consecutive years
  • U/15’s - Taverners Plate Final
  • U/13’s - Taverners South of England
